Visitors to the Baldwinsville Public Library will soon benefit from an important behind-the-scenes improvement as the library replaces its more than 30-year-old cooling tower through a state-funded infrastructure project administered by the New York State Library in partnership with Onondaga County Public Library System and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York. The project will help ensure dependable air conditioning for the thousands of people who use the library each year and reinforce its role as a cooling center during periods of extreme heat. “Headlines about record-breaking temperatures are becoming increasingly common, making this project especially meaningful,” said Library Director Nancy Howe. “We’re grateful for this investment, which will allow us to continue to provide a cool, comfortable environment while supporting our role as a community cooling center. It’s an investment in both our building and the people who rely on it every day. Our library is a place where everyone is welcome, and this investment helps us continue providing a safe place for reading, learning, connecting, working, and simply finding relief from the summer heat.”
