Starting September 8th, get ready to fill your passport. Not a passport to other countries, but to all of the libraries in Onondaga County. Introducing OCPL: The Passport. This initiative has two goals: explore all of the public libraries in Onondaga County and collect their unique trading cards.
Visit any OCPL library to pick up your passport tracker and to get that library’s passport sticker and trading card featuring fun facts. Then, visit as many OCPL libraries as you can to receive more stickers and trading cards! Be on the lookout for bonus trading cards at outreach events. Collect 30 library stickers to earn a prize!
Participants visiting Baldwinsville Public Library can receive our location sticker and card at the main Circulation Desk. Patrons new to the program can also receive a Passport by asking at the main Circulation Desk. You can find more information including how to receive your prize and locations where you can get bonus cards by visiting the Official OCPL Passports page. This service is expected to run through December 31, 2026.
Reading Dragons Fun!
Decide beforehand if you are going to mix your cards up or keep them separate and keep track of your scores on paper. If you are going to mix up your cards, make sure you know how you will identify your cards to retrieve them after the game is done.
To play: you and a friend each choose one card, keeping it hidden so your friend can’t see what you chose. Then count to 3 and both of you flip over your cards to see who wins.

Earth (Green) beats Water (Blue)
Water (Blue) beats Fire (Red)
If you have the same color, it’s a tie
The trading cards are compatible with the Reading Dragons program. If you frequently visit other libraries in other areas, you may have heard of this program which encourages library visitation and community-based play.
