Clear Signs, Shared Spaces: A Look at Our New Library Signage

A public library is a shared space, and keeping it welcoming, comfortable, and accessible takes a little cooperation from everyone. As our community’s needs and routines change, it’s helpful to revisit the guidelines that help patrons make the most of the library’s resources.

That’s why we’ve added new directional and informational signage throughout the library! These signs offer friendly reminders, answer common questions, and help everyone navigate our shared spaces with greater ease.

Bikes and scooters belong in the wild. Our new signage reminds visitors that conventional and electric bikes, scooters, and other vehicles that can’t be easily stowed need to remain outside the library. Mobility devices used to accommodate a disability are welcome. Bike racks are available outside the parking lot entrance, and free locks can be picked up at the Circulation Desk. We want everyone to have a convenient way to get here while keeping indoor spaces clear and accessible.

Room reservations work best when everyone is on the same page. Whether you’re meeting with a group, studying, or attending a tutoring session, our meeting rooms are valuable community resources. New signs remind patrons to check in at the Circulation Desk before entering a reserved room. This gives staff time to prepare the space and allows previous users to finish up. When your reservation ends, please leave promptly and close the door behind you. Need a little more time? Check with a staff member to see whether your booking can be extended.

Looking for a place to study or learn? We have space for you! Our new Learning Center signage highlights weekly tutoring workspaces available Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the school year. Three workspaces are open for drop-in use, and no reservation is needed. It’s another way the library supports students and lifelong learners in our community.

These signs make sure everyone can enjoy the library, find the resources they need, and feel comfortable sharing space with their neighbors. Thank you for helping us keep the library welcoming, accessible, and ready for the thousands of neighbors who walk through our doors each month!
