Pre K Summer Reading Program (ages 5 and under)

Pick up craft kits, prizes, and raffle tickets every week!
We have fun programming every weekday at 2 PM this summer!
You can log your reading and activities on a paper log.
Stop by the Library on June 29 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm to register, get your paper logs, and ice cream!

If you can’t come to the library weekly, use the online logging portal here: https://bvilleny05.readsquared.com/

On sign-up participants get a necklace with a Brag Tag charm and their Summer Reading book prize (the week 1 prize).
Weeks 2 to 6 will feature a weekly Dinosaur craft, collect all 5!
If you missed any prizes or reading goals, catch up on Week 7.
There are dinosaur, archeology, and history-themed raffle prizes. Tickets for a raffle prize are earned 1 per 6 days read, and if you read all 48/49 days for summer reading, you get 3 additional tickets for up to 10 total. Participants will get an extra week to submit any paper logs or add days online for their raffle tickets and raffle winners will be drawn on or about Monday, August 24th.

Teen Summer Reading Program (ages 12-17)

Sign up for a free account on ReadSquared: https://bvilleny05.readsquared.com/
Log at least once a week online or on a paper log (available in the young adult area in the library).
Earn a raffle ticket for each book you read.
Earn additional raffle tickets for completing missions on ReadSquared.
The Young Adult Services Librarian will keep track of how much everyone logs and how many raffle tickets are earned.
Come to the library every week to pick up a craft kit from the holds shelf.

At the end of the summer all the participating teens will receive a final prize.
All participants will also be entered in a raffle to win a grand prize!
The more tickets-the higher your chances of winning a grand prize!

Want a less formal way to get involved in teen summer reading? New this year is our Gashapon machine (a capsule vending machine) which will dispense you a prize for every Teen Summer Reading Ticket! In the young adult area, fill out a Teen Summer Reading Ticket with the date, your name, and the book you read that week. Drop your completed ticket in the Teen Summer Reading Ticket box. Then, spin the Gashapon machine for a prize!
PLEASE only one prize per person per week. Supplies are limited. OPTIONAL drop the plastic capsule in the basket for reuse!

Adult Summer Reading Program

Participate in-person or online via this link to track your progress. The library will be hosting an in-person raffle and an online raffle, participants who have won once this year are not eligible to win again in either raffle. Raffle prizes this year will be $50 gift cards to local shops.

The library is hosting a summer mini art competition! Drop in anytime during a designated painting session as listed on the library’s program calendar to create your mini masterpiece on a 4 x 4 inch canvas. All supplies will be provided; you may also bring in your own supplies if you prefer. Afterwards, if you would like to submit your masterpiece for our August exhibition, please write your contact information on the supplied information slip and leave your canvas to dry on the story room counter. Library staff will collect, store, and hang the canvases on August 4th.

We will hold a community vote until Wednesday, August 26th. We will contact participants to pick up their art after the winner is announced. On Friday, August 28th, we will announce the winner by community vote for our grand prize: Membership to the Everson Museum of Art! All Everson Memberships Include the Following benefits: free museum admission, free admission to opening receptions, free guest passes, & more!

On Thursday, July 9 at 6:00 pm, take a ‘Sentimental Journey’ back to the Big Band Era during World War II!
Geoff Clough will present an evening program of music along with history, stories and trivia about the songs that saw us through the war (lyric booklets will be available to sing-a-long). Geoff will also have memorabilia on display including diaries and journals from the G.I.s along with ration stamp books, Life Magazine and even a Marine and Navy handbook, plus other interesting finds. If you have a story to tell, Geoff would love to hear it! Come early to see his display table.
